NSS 2015 Mailers

INK MEETS PAPER® pre-show mailer for the National Stationery Show
INK MEETS PAPER® pre-show mailer for the National Stationery Show

We’re NYC bound for the National Stationery Show in just a few short days (!!!) and can’t wait to share all of the new products that we’ve been working on over the past months. Designing and printing our pre-show mailer inviting retailers to visit our booth is always so much fun, and we loved how this year’s piece turned out.

This year’s mailer included a gray envelope with a letterpress-printed liner in our custom ink splatter pattern (which also coordinates with the pattern on our new business cards). As an extra detail, we included a hidden message that could be found if you looked further into the envelope.

The 5×7 letterpress art print (“Life is best shared”) features a hand-lettered design, and it also serves as an introduction to our new product line, Gatherings.

The invitation is letterpress printed in two colors on shimmery teal paper and highlights the key information about the show (booth no. 1453!), and the hand-drawn envelopes reiterate our love of snail mail and handwritten correspondence.

Modern Calligraphy Class in Greenville

What an amazing weekend spent in Greenville, SC. We spent a full day on Saturday teaching a total of three beginner-level Modern Calligraphy classes. This was our first time teaching out of town, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Our friends at Indie Craft Parade coordinated the workshops, and The Printshop kindly hosted us in their amazing studio space. It was such a wonderful day, and we really enjoyed spending time with the class participants and spending the day putting pen to paper. All photos by Erin Godbey of Indie Craft Parade.

Modern Hand Lettering Class

This February, I started teaching a class on modern hand lettering at SpaceCraft Studios. It’s been the most wonderful experience in the two classes we’ve held so far, and I’ve really enjoyed connecting with other handwriting enthusiasts. It’s a beginner-lever class that focuses on pointed pen techniques and encourages students to develop their own lettering styles.

We start by covering the basic strokes and shapes that make the letters and on getting the hang of using a dip pen and ink.

Like letterpress printing, pointed pen lettering requires patience and a willingness to slow down. It’s such a rewarding process though, and I love how students are able to see how much progress they make just in one class.

And we’ve had such a great response to the classes we’ve held so far (everything has sold out!) that we just added two additional classes on June 25 and June 26 (6:30pm to 9:00pm).

National Stationery Show: Almost There

If you’ve been following along with our Twitter and Instagram feeds, you’ve probably noticed lots of talk about the upcoming National Stationery Show (which is the trade show for all things paper). We’re super excited to be debuting our line this year (booth no. 2267), and we’ve also been working around the clock to get all of the details in place (less than three weeks to go!). It’s amazing how many components there are– from building and shipping booth walls and materials to developing and producing new products. These past few months have been a bit of a whirlwind.
We’re so excited to meet new shops and buyers though (and are really looking forward to meeting our current accounts in person), and we can’t wait to introduce all sorts of new INK MEETS PAPER products.

In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek of what we’ve got up our sleeves.
