Etsy Featured Shop and Interview

I still remember my first Etsy purchase from back in 2006– a handmade greeting card (not too terribly surprising, right?). I loved how Etsy provided the buyer with a connection to the maker and how they’ve created an entire community in support of makers and artisans. We couldn’t have been more honored to be interviewed as part of Etsy’s Featured Shop series a couple weeks ago. The full interview is available here, and the numerous sweet and kind comments made us even happier to be a part of Etsy’s handmade community.

Also, it was so hard to narrow down studio photos to include for our interview, so I just had to share a few more here (taken by Olivia Rae James).

Neenah Paper – Against the Grain Blog

What an honor to have two of our Valentine’s cards (Love Heart and 3hearts) featured on Neenah’s blog Against the Grain. Our house stock (and the paper we use for all of our greeting cards) is 110-lb Crane’s Lettra, which is part of the Neenah paper family. It’s such a delightfully thick, cottony paper, and everyone always comments about the quality.

Love Is in the Air

It’s hard to believe that Valentine’s Day is this week. I’d been meaning to put together a post on valentine’s cards earlier, but it’s been a whirlwind of activity in the studio over the past couple of weeks.
However, we did introduce several new valentine/love designs this year:

We also printed a limited edition print (using hand-set type and a Showcard sign press!). At 12.5 x 19 inches, it’s one of the largest pieces we’ve produced. It’s available for purchase through our Etsy store.

The old favorites are also still available:

Let’s Print!

I’m so excited to be teaching the winter series letterpress workshop at Redux Studios in downtown Charleston. Not only do they have amazing exhibitions and artist studios, but they emphasize the importance of art education and offer a variety of classes. Redux is particularly near and dear to me, as it’s where I took my first letterpress class almost five years ago.

The class meets once a week for three weeks. We’ll cover letterpress terms and vocabulary, learn how to mix ink, and print with wood and metal type using a sign press and table-top platen press. You don’t have to have any experience, and all materials will be provided. Class size is limited to six students.

When: Wednesdays, February 6, 13, and 20 / 6pm – 9pm
